VEG is now looking for youth-oriented education materials to help support computer use and learning on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and various other issues.

If you have any materials - games , books, CD-ROMs, computer games on personal development, the body, SRH issues for youth, self-teaching typing and computer programmes, world maps, etc. that you would like to donate for the youth in Ho please get in touch now!

Volunteer Placement

Jewellery Designer Volunteer for Lady Volta Beads

Using primarily local recycled materials and various beads produced by artisans around Africa, the Lady Volta Beads project, initiated in May 2007, supports alternative livelihoods amongst young women. The young women currently producing the jewellery require training in new techniques and general support for the production of new designs.

New Programmes at the Lady Volta Resource Centre

LVRC Youth Club Party

VEI / Ghana, in conjunction with UNFPA and the support of VEI’s volunteers, will be undertaking new programmes at the Lady Volta Resource Centre for 2008.

Earlier this year, the Lady Volta Resource Centre (LVRC) expanded its premises and now has 2 programme rooms, 2 counselling rooms, a resource centre and computer room. Lots more space for many more programmes!

Plans for activities starting in May involve youth clubs for 13-26 year olds, training programmes for staff and youth leaders including peer education training, open days to raise awareness about different SRH issues, and a radio discussion show. Topics to be addressed include: Teen Pregnancy, Relationships, STIs, HIV/AIDS, Self-Esteem, Family Planning, Computer Skills and basic Business Skills.
